I got most of my equipment today to start my stereo project. Today I started with my custom 8" sub box in the rear deck. This is the first time I have even touched fiberglass and it is a lot hard then I first thought. I think this part was the hardest. Here are a few pics of what I did today...

Took everything out (even the third brake light)

Then I had to put on some music.

I had to tape the area so I could make the base mold.

Next was to lay out the fiberglass and spray it.

last thing I did tonight was apply the resin to the fiberglass.

It is just sitting right now waiting to harden. I will be up at 4 am to put it all back together. The hardest pat was mix=in the res. I learned fast not to put too much hardener in it. LOL It dried so fast.

So are you putting 3 8" subs in the rear deck or what? I probably missed a thread earlier that discussed this? ;)

Oh ok, cool deal. That is gonna be one bad ass setup! Damn! I wish I had the money to sink into my system. <_< Anyways good luck with all the fabrication and such.

Oh yeah, not a bad looking car for $3000, pretty good deal if you ask me.

First picture is informative for many things. So that's where the rear strut mounts are!!!!

DAY 2

To day went a lot better I got my mixtures right on this time. I went out at 4am to check to see if the first layer had dried and part of it was still wet <_< , not enough hardener. I got it fixed and put down the second layer. I would have posted pics but it looks the same as when I finished last night. Tonight I will take it out and put it all back together until I get all the work done.

I only got the car for $3000 because it has 126,000 miles on it. It has a full service record, so I couldn't really pass it up.

The strut mounts are what is making this part so hard. If I didn't want to have that extra air space I would of done it flat.

haha, i am a firm believer of "put in as much hardener as you want". i just put in a whole bunch of hardner, and then see how hot it gets :D

P.S.--dont forget your wrench on that right rear speaker  . oh yeah, cool people dont have their back deck covered, i have been rolling that way for a few months while i attempt to get my projects moving

Well I just pulled the fiberglass off and put it back together. I might try to get some more work done on the box this weekend. Right now my compressor is in the shop. I hope Sears hurries up with it too. Now I just need to work on getting the resin off the window without messing up the rear defrost.

I don't see an alarm system. Do you have any kind of protection?

I have an Autoloc shaved door handle kit W/ alarm and 7 function remote. I just need to sit down this weekend and get it all wired up. I also want to tint the windows silver.

I'm not going to put the poppers on or shave the handles until I get it repainted. I might also try to find a GEN 3 Duratec and let my wife have the Vulcan to drive. I do already have a color pick out for my new paint job, it is crystal blue from the TVR's.

I should get my compressor back to day I hope, and work will continue. I can't wait either. I might start my second project (custom speaker pods in all four doors) while I wait for more supplies and my compressor.

Lookin good. You might consider buying disposable plastic drop cloths from a hardware store to put down in the car and tape along the trim and windows to keep resin off everything. I can't tell from the pictures, are you using chop mat or cloth? How many layers are you going to put down? How are you going to finish it? Paint? Carpet?

I was too lazy the first night but I used them the second night. I am using chop mat, and depending on what I am doing I will be using 2-3. I ordered 1 1/2oz and 2oz mat from U.S. Composites I am just waiting to get my shipment. I want to paint it to match my car, but we will see how it all comes out. Now when I start making stuff for people here it will be made to order, carpet, paint, or textured. I did some more work on it to night after I got my compressor back.

DAY 3
I took my back seat out AGAIN and cut my tray to fit. It was really tight and hard to get in.

Then I started to think about making something like this for a member here. I don't think you would want to take out your third brake light. Plus it was really hard to get into the window, so I did this.

I will form a small box around a fiberglass copy of the rear deck.
