Hey guys...

The trep took a turn for the worst last night and threw a rod in the cylinder. We don't know how much life it has left in it .. but right now my mom is looking at three Tauruses. a '99 SE with 55K miles on it, a '98 ?? with ?? miles on it, and a '01 SE with 10K miles on it. Right now she's trying to get approved for a loan... so if she can get the loan, I won't be on here for a while. We'll know tomorrow.

99 SE - Tan, power drivers seat, speedo 120mph(?? how did that happen??), 55K miles, one owner, Vulcan engine (Asking $6,370)
98 ?? - we don't know anything about this yet (don't know yet)
01 SE - Gray, 10K miles, vulcan. (Asking $9,259)

Sorry to hear about the trep Ashley. Hope everything gets worked out with getting the new car. It'll all work out.
I hope so. Right now we are sparingly taking trips to school... We need a new car and fast. I'm hoping to get my lil red bomb back ASAP.

I hope everything works out for you guys. That 01 SE has some seriously low miles on it. Sounds like a good deal. Of course you should always try and talk them down, cant hurt anything right?

Good luck with everything.

That's what I'm screamin'. Go with the gen4, provided it doesn't have any damage. Of course you may find out that the '98 is a SHO or something.
hey ash :)
Hope everything works out for the best.

Regards,

John
OK, well the G4 is out of the picture... as well as the 99 SE. lol.. So we're waiting to see what the 98 holds in store. They still didn't get it on the lot yet - but they said they should have it by tonight or tomorrow morning (hopefully tonight)

the G4's monthly payments are about $350/month for 3 1/2 years.. My mom was looking more in the range of about $200 or less a month.

The '99 she finally came to realize that it's too much money for a g3. Even with the miles on it, it's too much - The bank NADA'ed it and the price only came to about $4,000. Dealer wants $6K. So the bank declined.

The '98 my mom is already approved for - but before we take it.. we seriously gotta check it over.

I took all the cool stuff in the Trep out this morning before school... and took some farewell pictures.. :(

Firespirit, what is the APR they are charging you for the 2000 model?
I don't know... it doesn't say on this sheet... it says here (on the paper the salesman printed out)

Vehicle Price: $9,800
Tax: $558.00
License, Title, and Doc: $15.00
Total: $10,373.00
Financing Approved: $8,873.00
Downpayment (Or trade-in) required: $1,500.00

I just noticed.. I was about $600 too low in the 01 price... Oops.

I am pretty sure that amount has an APR on it. or some kind of interest rate.
My problems have seemed to grow very worse...

The intrepid's engine completely siezed today.. the 98 Taurus (which is an SE With the Vulcan engine, 102K miles) they want to see $1,500 more for a downpayment, and we have a rental ($50 - a mitsubishi galant is all they had) for one day. I don't know what we're going to do... :-(

Your credit rating might not be that strong....so they want 3,000 dollars down now? as opposed to the initial 1500? you can always drop that dealer and go to another one. Remember, you are there to buy a car; not to make a friend. So if they are not helping you out (in this case, it seems that way) walk away.
I don't have a car, John. We really don't have a choice at this moment. I would say we can walk.. but we are 15 minutes away from the city (by car @ 75MPH) I don't know how we're going to swing this.. We don't have money for an extended rental.... :( I'm really majorly distressed. Also, the internet is going tomorrow.. We can't afford it now. So I guess this will be goodbye?

Oh and by the way - The 01 and the 98 Tauruses are at one lot (Crabb's used cars) and the 99 Taurus is at the Dodge dealership. The dodge dealership offered a $2,500 trade-in for the intrepid, however we can't get financed through the bank. And Crabbs, they have a guaranteed approval for loans... However, with the siezed engine, they are only willing to take $1,000 trade in. And they need a $1,500 down payment. So I think we need like... $500, if I'm right in what the guy said.

Right now, the salesman and my mom are working with a company called "GE" to see if they can bump the downpayment down a bit so we can get the car...

If you lived closer I'd let you borrow a car of mine..
Ashley,

Did you ever think about a junkyard engine?

And if they don't take it in for a trade in, part it out, it's worth more in parts.
Our real problem here is that we dont have a car!!!! Then we can worry about the intrepid.

ash, I sent you a PM if you have not got it yet. I sent it as a PM, but it is not about the TAURUS, it is something I wish to help with on car choices.
I'd get a junkyard motor thrown in the Intrepid. Pull a complete 3.3/V6 including the computer from a yard (they'll usually do it for you for a small fee but it helps to know people who will do it for you).

The reason I am suggesting the 3.3...ok this thing makes the Vulcan look like a fast car (LOL) but it's extremely reliable and cheap. so you can always trade the car in after.

it doesn't pay to trade in a non working car. i'd just fix the intrepid. it should be done within a week. as for a car, i'm currently taking the bus to work. LMAO
Alex, the intrepid is being parted out. People here want way too much for an engine, and my mom doesnt want it anymore anyway. So we're having much more luck parting it out then getting another engine.
