I've got a 1996 LX with an AM/FM cassette WITHOUT CD controls. I want to add an OE cd changer. From what I've read, the brains of the radio are in the trunk. Where do I find them? My question is this: I want to change my faceplate to one that has CD changer controls and then get a changer mounted in the trunk so that the OE faceplate can control it.

Has anyone upgraded to a cd changer controlling head unit before? What needs to be done to move from a stereo that does NOT have cd changer controls to one that does? Where are all of the connections that will be involved?

i believe that even if you do not have the cd changer controls on your head unit, ur amp in the trunk should still have the connections for one. As for the upgraded radio itself, you should be able to find one in a junk yard or something and just plug it into your current harness that is connected to your current radio.

Hope that helps
