Hello,

I have a sable 2001. This winter, I can hear the left side of the engine have ticking noise after I start. This noise is larger if I immediately backed off from parking lot. But if I let the engine to warm up before pulling back from parking lot, there is not such noise.

Could this be the belt or the valves inside the engine?

Thanks
Robert

Likely common. My '03 DOHC does that but left idling, it lasts breif to several seconds depending on the temperature. No issue. Valve lifter.

What engine? Vulcan or Duratec? If Duratec, Chartmaker nailed it.
