I just read the post in common problems about cleaning the engine ground. i'd like to do that, but the article didn't say where it was.

i've got a gen III, 97 taurus lx...tec. anyone know where the engine ground is? thanks.

Look on the passenger's side of the firewall, next to the PCM harness. You'll see a flat braided cable. That's your engine ground.

There is one at the starter too.

Every one I have dealt with was a PITA to get off. This is because Ferd did not put a washer under the bolt head/nut and on top of the ground wire connector.

well i was gonna see how bad it was...and possibly replace the connector. if i had to clean it...probably a wire brush and some of that crap you put on spark plugs.

why? what should i use?

i'm not having any problems...but i believe in "preventive maintenance".

if its clean and grounded well...it'll prevent problems in the future. i'd rather fix it when its not broken than to wait til the car don't run and try to rush through it.

any special procedure?
