I need help. I just bought a 2000 Sable LS and it is equipped with the electronic keypad. Everything I have read stated that there is a sticker on the RAP that has the default code. I looked and the only thing I could find is a sticker that has a bunch of number/letter combinations on it. Is it within these combos that I will find the code? The dealer wants to charge 90 BUCKS for them to retrieve it. Please help!

If you bought this car from a ford dealer, they should give you the code otherwise they have no right to advertise the feature and not tell you the code. If its from somewhere else, go to a different ford dealer. Took it to a dealer, the service advisor was under the car for 5 mins, found it and wrote it down for free.
Look under the trunk lid, that's where I found the keypad code for my 95 GL. Mine is a small white sticker with the numbers on it, 5 digits.
I have a 2000 tauras the same problem

i looked under the dasj and mah at 6 3,240 that was a squeze anyway
i will check the hoot tonight

keep me posted how and where u found it
I still havn't found the keycode of my 99 taurus se. The manual say it is taped on the computer module. I am just not sure where is the computer module and what the label looks like
Grab a flashlight, open the glove compartment and look strait in. Its there.

Is this for Taurus of a certain year or for model of all the year?
mike...your code will be on the white box above the accelerator like many posts have discussed. Remove the box and there should be a black piece of electrical tape wrapped around the box covering the last 3 digits of the code. You need to heat the electrical tape with a hair drier an then slowly remove the tape. It will be a 5 digit bold black code.

call me if you need assistance.

Mine was on a sticker in the glovebox. It was inside all the user manual info and such.

Wow, super. I noticed the black tape around the box, but I didn't think of removing it. I will try it and get you posted.

thanks a lot!
Mine was on the box above the accelerator pedal. If you are on your back on the front floor with your head right up against the center hump or console (looking back toward the driver's door,) you can see it. You'll need a flash light, but it's there, and it's not covered up or anything. It's a 5-digit code.
I appreciate all of the advice. I still can't locate it. If anyone has more info. for the Gen. 4 I would greatly appreciate the input.

Talk to the dealer service advisor. Tell him you just got the car and plan on having all the maintenance done there and are looking to build a relationship. In fact you are here today to get the oil changed and take advantage of their free safety inspection (everyone's got one). Oh, and by the way, I have this keypad but no code, I understand it takes about 30 seconds to download this electronically. Any chance of doing this as a favor for a future service customer?

Any service advisor worth his salt will jump on making you happy to get you coming back. If the closest dealer doesn't bite, try it at the next closest one and mention you had problems at dealer A and are looking to build a relationship at dealer B...
