I have a friend who has a '98 Taurus and his dome light will not operate when he opens the drivers door, all other doors the light operates properly. Does any one know what the problem might be, or is there someone who has experienced the same problem.
He said he doesn't want to tear the drivers door panel off until he has some idea of where to look to find a fix.
Thanks

Spray the latch area liberally with WD40. Try to get the WD40 as far "into" the latch as possible, and operate the door handle a bunch of times. If this doesnt work, pull the door panel. Very easy on the Taurus. 5 screws (if I remember correctly... havent had one off in a year or so) to remove and pull it off. Takes me under 5 min to get off a Taurus door panel.

I have used the method Jeff describes with WD40 and it worked. Although my problem was the opposite. The light would not shut off.

So... the switch is in the latch?

Yes, the switch is part of the latch, but can be replaced seperately.
