A provision that would've used your tax dollars to crush older vehicles was kept out of the economic stimulus package.

However, they've proposed a new scheme to take your tax money and use it to bribe people to turn it anything that gets less than 18 MPG ($2500-4500 per car) so they can crush it.

that sucks i better start scooping up all the old rangers/bronco II's and old ramchragers/traildusters i can for parts then

according to fueleconomy.gov my bronco 2 should get 20 mpg on the highway you think it could be affected by this (rangers and bronco 2's ingeneral)? are they going to go by average or highway or what?

freaking stupid.. congress is a joke.. they really need to pull there heads out of there asses.. you know how many people would have to get rid of there cars or whatever due to this act.. and how are these people going to be able to afford the newer fuel efficient cars. not everybody makes 100,000 a year being a duechebag like the ppl in congress.. now heres an act for them.. how bout a ban on retarded ppl and ppl who have no common sense to not be aloud to breed like themselves..

Read the article... they're offering the money to people to do it. They're not proposing forcibly taking people's vehicles away (yet). It's a voluntary program (for now) but still ridiculous. I edited the first post to make it more clear.

I don't think it'll go through, but it's still frightening.
