From a security standpoint I'd like to disable the trunk lid release button thats inside the car. I drive a 2005 Taurus SE. I know the release is different than the hood release which I'm guessing an active cable release. I'm guessing that the trunk release is electric? Is there a way to disable this button so that the only way to get into my trunk is by the key latch on the outside? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

Hi Jman. You should be able to reach up behind the dash and unplug the connector from the button. Or you can use some trim tools to pop the button outa the dash and do it that way.

Hey Geek, thanks for the input! I'll try that tomorrow morning. I'll let you know if it works or if something goes horribly wrong.

Its fine. Mines been like that for years. Tuck the harness up so it isn't easily seen.
