I have a 2001 taurus ohv, I took the passenger cv axle out last night and alot of trans fluid came out from behind it. Is this normal? It wasnt leaking before I took it out. Might've been around a quart of fluid. Thank you for any help.

Yes without the CV axle it will leak out, this is normal because the fluid level is above the axle. Make sure you replace the seal where the axle goes into the transmission.

I did not know this until I took out my CV and pissed transmission fluid all over my dad's driveway....oops. Ignorance from working on strictly trucks my whole life I guess.

Never had that happen. Guess I had the one side so high the fluid went the other way. Back in the day, in rear wheel drive, had to park the front down hill to remove the drive shaft from automatic so fluid did not run out.

^^^^ Same here. On my old RWD Tbirds I jack the rear ends way up (and use jack stands on their highest settings) to keep from puking out a quart or 2 of tranny fluid all over the garage floor.
