my 2002 taurus has been acting up with slow acceleration and sudden drops in power and i got the codes pulled from the check engine light and it said that the crankshaft position sensor wasnt working properly and cylinders 1 and 3 were misfiring. so im wondering if this is a reasonably simple fix or if a pro is needed. thanks in advance

Welcome to TCCA.

Post ALL of the trouble code numbers you found.

Well we don't know how expierenced a wrench turner you are, nor what kind of tools & repair shop you might have.

If your going to have to work outside in the cold & snow, maybe you'd want to reconsider.

If it turns out you have to replace say plugs & or wires, or a crank sensor, it's doable by a reasonably good & patient wrench turner, with good tools & a repair manual, or repair CD.

Also, remember that a code for a sensor could be set by a wiring problem with one of the wires for the sensor. Knowing what the exact trouble codes are will definitely help.
