I was on my way to pick up a friend and I caught a light with a white, mid nineties jetta, with a loud and shiny muffler. I was lookin over to see if he'd make eye contact and try to race, but he was talking to his g/f. I figured he wasn't game, and went on with life. But when the light changed I notice he was pacing me, then with no warning he hits in first, of course after I already shifted into second. So I downshift and start making up ground, and pull ahead by 50-60mph. Then at the next light, he says "Wow, that's pretty fast for a 4 cylinder, what is it?" I told him it was a taurus and it had a v6, then I asked him if he wanted to go from a dig. I thought I saw him nod like he was game, but when the light changed I couldn't tell if he was racing or not. I just screeched out of the hole and went on my way.

Then on the way home with my friend riding shot gun I saw a black mid nineties thunderbird driving kind of fast. It looked like a stock 3.8 v6, so I figured what the hell. So I roll up next to him at about 55 or 60mph, and kind of rev my car. He looks over with a grin and it sounds like he pulled the gear shift into a lower gear and was pacing me, so I nod and take off. I admit I got a small head start but I still walked this guy pretty bad. So I slow down and pace him again. Now we're looking at each other waiting for somebody to make the first move, so I start pointing ahead, and he takes off. This time I made sure he got the head start just to be fair. Even with the head start I gave him I still pulled a couple car lengths on him.

I know these aren't great kills, but they're still fun. Anybody else have some recent kill stories?

Well... >.> Does it have to be a Taurus? Or ... recent? :p

I raced my friend's Sable (lower end 3.0 in it, I think, but loaded with all options otherwise) and had a car length on him all the way to 105 at which point he couldn't go any faster and we had to slow down, but that was a while back, in my Escort.

More recently, we'd borrowed my grandma's base Sable (think it's a '99) for vacation, and I got in a race against some dude on highway seventy, near St. Louis, coming onto the highway off a ramp, in a black version of the same car. We went up evenly to about 85 then had to hit the brakes 'cause we ran into a radar trap. He exited, didn't see him again.

Haven't had a chance to put our new wagon through it's paces yet. :p

Maybe half his cylinders weren't working and he wasn't aware of it? :D When I first had my car I thought I 'beat' a Cobra. <_<

I beat a Galant, a 4-cyl. Grand Am, and a tiny P.O.S. Something-or-another tonight. That was fun... And the other day I showed a guy in a lifted Wrangler some Taurus tail. I saw him spin his tires taking off from a light and decided to try to humble him. As I was coming up on him, he kept looking back and kept looking more and more frightened/amazed. The last words I saw him mouth were "A f'ing Taurus?!" I had a good laugh over that one.

I always have the most fun racing against other tauruses, except they're always stock so I always win. The only time I lost to another taurus was when I raced a gen3 sho, but that a few years and many mods ago and now the guy won't give me a re-match.

Funny you should mention that. Just yesterday, at a stop light leading left onto the highway, I pulled up next to a newer Wrangler Sport, and the guy beside me gives me this nasty look and says, "You ain't gettin in front of me." He keeps inching so far ahead, he's almost in the damn intersection. And on top of that, he's in the inner lane, with me in the outer lane, so he has about a 10-15 foot advantage. Too bad that still couldn't save him.

I took off slowly (at least slow to me, no spinning tires) and my hood was about at his back tire when the turn was over and we were onto the two-lane straight-away. From there I dropped the Yamahammer, screeched my tires, and bucked forward like my ass was on fire. B) I flew by him like he was standing still, and by the time I slammed it into 2nd, HIS hood was at MY back tire. :D By the time we merged, at 75 mph, I was already 1-2 carlengths ahead and still gaining steam.

The last thing I saw before blazing away from him was him throwing up his hands in the air and shouting a pretty obvious "WTF?!" over and over.

And good kills, Mike. Too bad about that G3 SHO that won't race you, but this G2's always willing to give it a go if you're ever in the area. :thumb:

Should hope not, the largest exhaust he should have on that might be 2.5", anything larger is pointless and you (from what I've heard) actually /lose/ power. :D Wish I had a SHO. I've never driven a stick with an engine larger than a 2.0L.

I haven't had many races in the Sable yet, no one wants to race me. I was playing with some kids in a bronco the other day and I beat them, and I beat this girl from my work in her new civic.

All my fun races have been in the Volvo, no one expects it. I've got straight piped exhaust on it and people just look at me like "WTF", till I romp on it. Best race was the other day. I was driving along and see a plain old lancer with a fart can on it. It's a kid and his girlfriend. We're going about 40 on a 2 lane road, he looks over and gasses it a little, I downshift to 3rd and do the same. He drops the hammer, I downshift again to 2nd and FLY by him, they both have this incredible look of awe on ther faces. We reach a light and he's staring at me like I've got 2 heads. The light turns green and we both take off normally, when we're both around 3k rpm's in 1st we both punch it and I FLY by him again, I let him catch up and then I nail it again and take off. The look on their faces was awesome.
