A couple of years ago I purchased an Hayden Adjustable Fan Control from Pep Boys for $20.00, and it has worked well for me ever since. Best mod I've ever did to my bull. Solve my engine overheating problem (due to cooling fan not running often and long enough) when replacing sensors did not.
Some things to consider:
1. A manual switch is something you have to remember to turn on and off, and risk overheating your engine if you forget to turn it on. Where are going to mount it, do you want to drill a hole in your dashboard?
2. You don't want or need the cooling fan to run all the time when the engine is running because that could lead to early fan bearing or motor failure.
3. An Adjustable Fan Control switch will allow you to take control of when the cooling fan cycles on & off away from the PCM without disturbing the factory circuitry or causing any ill effects. Adjustable temperature ranges can be easily be changed in summer and winter using a screwdriver and your dash ECT gauge. Easy to install. I mounted mine on the upper radiator support under the plastic shield, and drilled a hole in the plastic shield large enough to access the adjustment screw with a screwdriver. Tap into a wire that is always hot when the key switch is in the on position or when the engine is running.
Good luck with your project and let me know if I can be of any help (although I won't be around much in the next couple of days due to travel).
