I recently flushed my cooling system on my 96 Duratec wagon and now the "Low Coolant" light won't go off. I tried cleaning the contacts with no success.

Is the sensor replaceable or do I need to replace the whole tank. Anybody have similar problems? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Greg.

At least on my 96, the low coolant sensor is on the bottom of the tank. Be sure it's pushed all the way onto its mount. It pokes up into a well in the tank bottom. A magnetic float goes up and down inside the tank and the sensor must be properly lined up with that float.

the sensors ar knowin to go bad...ive been told you can get the sensor seperate, but all the ford dealerships tell me that they only carry the whole darn resivor for $90. Even the article at v8 sho says you need the whole res. (part of the sensor is inside the tank)

And you can NOT acces t through the wheel well ;)
