I've had the car for a little over 2 years now with around 185,000 miles on it. I try to keep up with maintenance and have never had a problem before with the car. But this morning i was making my way to school on the highway when i got a coolant light, so i slow down and crank the heat, about another mile or so down the road it started to misfire. I finally make it to a safe enough spot to pull over and i let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then i turned the car back on and limped it to a gas station where i let it sit for another 30. There wasn't any puddle of coolant, the oil smelled like oil, when i opened the engine bay i couldn't smell any coolant.
I'm sitting in class now and im going to burp the coolant when i get out and check all the cold levels.
It is about -10 outside right now so i have no idea if that might shed some insight on the situation but any advice for what i should be looking out for or ways to keep the temp down would be wonderful thank you

Apart from the coolant light, did you observe the actual coolant temperature readings? What were the temperatures while this was going on? Next time you drive the car, take pictures so you don't have to rely on memory.

What ratio of coolant do you currently have in there? Are you sure its mixed correctly where it wont freeze in them temperatures?
Are you getting heat in the interior of the car and is it a good heat? Heat in the car shows coolant is most likely flowing.

Was it this light that came on?
