My 2000 Ford Taurus SE with the vulcan engine is leaking coolant from somewhere on the front of the engine block, we just replaced a hose assembly in the back of the engine compartment that connects to the heater core / engine etc. Is this a common issue? I'd just like some input. Thanks.

Might be the infamous Vulcan timing chain cover gasket leak.

If it smells like sizzling anti-freeze on a hot exhaust pipe, that is one of the symptoms. That's if you can rule out a waterpump leak, since they are in the same area.

Here is a thread on the problem and the repair.
