So, I jsut got the codes read on my car and came up with those two errors. One being the oxygen sensor (this has come up about 3 or 4 times already, I know I need to replace it)

The other one is the Cam Position Error. That one sorta scares me because I don't know anythign about it.

So, is it possible they are related? Could my o2 sensor be so bad now that it has put my engine in sort of a protect mode? And, what's the procedure for replacing a cam position sensor. Seems to me like a big job.

Anybody have any experience in this??? Thank you for any help!!!

Some more information here also....

I also had a Misfire on cylinder 1 a while ago (it has not come back) so I replaced all the plugs. Didn't replace any wires.

Sometiems when I start the car, it stutters a bit. Since replacing the plugs it is ALOT better, but still does it from time to time. Almost to the point where it seems it may want to stall.

There is a CPS (camshaft position sensor) in the G3's and G4's. That sensor might be goin bad. The sensor just threads into the engine block - it's not that hard to replace. Th O2 sensor will not affect the cam position that way. The O2 sensor will, however, cause the engine to run lean, which can be a big problem. I would replace both forward (pre-Cat) sensors as soon as possible.

Take it to a Ford Dealer for proper Diagnosis. There's ALOT more to driveability repair than just reading codes! Other problems can cause trouble codes for the
Cam Sensor, & Oxygen sensor w/out those particular parts being bad. IF the Cam
sensor IS bad, it's a good idead to replace the Camshaft Synchronizer as well. It looks like a distributor shaft & the sensor attaches to the top of it. It can be tricky for an amature w/out the correct alignment tool! NO adjustments can be made after installation... so ya' better get it right the first time.

i had a OBD scan come back with a bad Camshaft sensor and a a code for O2 sensors being rich and lean. I was thinking that the bad camshaft sensor was causing improper pulse width which resulted in rich and lean conditions. I havent inspected the sensor yet but im skeptical about replacing the whole assembly with the sensor. I dont really feel like dishing out 30 bucks for a plastic specialty tool to align the shaft, in addition to the sensor. Ill definately test the voltage before i pull the sensor and go from there. Does anyone know what would cause the shaft assembly to fail?
