Clutch Adjustment

952 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  fantacmet
I need to know how to adjust the clutch in my 1986 MT-5. 4 cylinder 5 speed. I checked on the pedal and on the tranny. I can't find anywhere to adjust it. I have no idea why it needs to be adjusted but it won't disengage enough to get into gear. I just did an engine swap on it, and have no idea. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know much about the clutch adjustment. Sorry.
Nah, too much cash and Iw ant to keep my 35+mpg. Besides 180 bucks for the doner car that came with the engine and an upgraded interior that was also in better shape then my existing one.

The clutch is supposed to be self adjusting, but it may not be at the top of its upward position or working right so you will have to do it manually.Ok this is gonna sound funny but this is how you have to adjust it. Either grab a hold of the clutch pedal with your hand or put your foot under it, pull up with a nice steady pressure it doesn't have to be hard. When you hear a click the clutch should be adjusted.
Oh wow that's funky, but it sounds right, I sure as heck hope yer right, or that it is the problem. I'll give it a shot in the morning. If it works I love ya and need to e-mail you a beer.
