I was 17, driving my POS escort, and coming back from G/F's house, we were heading for school.
Well she had on this skirt and black nylons (something I am a 100% sucker for)
Driving this long stretch, I decided I was more into her legs. I was playing with them, and all the sudden the car was off the road, I didn't know til I looked up and was crushing part of a cornfield. I got the car back on the road, and was like, "Oh i am so sorry about that", she was like, that is OK, i don't mind little adventures.

if I had ran off the road on an other place on this stretch, i would have prolly killed us both. WHEW! tough driving lessons you get as a teen.

So after that, I always waited til I was parked before I undertook any "admiring". (teenagers, I tell ya).

Any other fun driving hazards from you guys?

It was in the spring, so the road up ahead had slush all over it... so i passed the bus... no problem i was doing about 80.. and i hit the slush

My car hydroplaned on the slush and i started turning sideways doing about 80 on the hwy... OH SH1T I thought.... when i hit the dry pavement sideways im SOL!

A couple of weaks ago, I was driving back home down a major freeway and I hit a spot of water. WIth my bad tires, this meant more than just water; my whole car felt like it was floating, and I could feel my rear breaking loose. I was able to "float" her strait off of the water, but that was my first major hydroplaning experience and it FREAKED ME OUT.

Of course, now that it's raining every single friggen day of the week, I find it fun to hydroplane now, especially since I've learned how to keep a certain minimal amount of control over the car (and to not be stupid around other vehicles, of course.)

I almost get into an accident almost every time I drive into Reno. If it wasn't for my dad looking out for me, I'd be dead by now.

I was 15 and driving my moms 1998 mustang cobra convertable. was heading back from panama city and was tired. mom was asleep and i was going with the music trying to get home. was thinkin about a video game i play then POW thump thump thump and i was like WTF. (the back right tire blew at 95 miles an hour. too fast i know but still. i press off on the cruse control and the back tire locks up and the car turnes around and slides across the median into oncoming traffic. we jump the first lane and slide accross the second) then hit the ditch. lol no traffic comming so its all good. talk about the ride of my life. lol thats my strory.

The closest call i ever had was last friday on the interstate. I was travelling behind a truck when a Grand Marquis spun out and did a 180 right in front of him. He swerved all the way right and i was looking at the front of this guys car doing 80. I went left and was maybe 3 feet from the median wall and maybe 10 feet from him. I'd have slammed myself into the wall before i wouldve hit him, he had passed me earlier and he definately had kids in the car.

I believe I was 16 at the time and on the freeway (I-5). I was heading home from a friend's party and I was in the 2nd lane (next to the slow lane). There were a bunch of semis in the slow lane and there were about 2 or 3 cars trapped inbetween a few semis. It looked like they wanted to merge over, so I slowed down to about 60-65MPH and they still wouldn't come across. I started to speed up again, and before I knew it, a car (I think an Eclipse) cuts left, fishtails, and cuts right again striking the car in front of him. That car turns into my lane slamming on the brakes. I swurved to the left (luckily no car was there) and missed it all without lifting the gas. I soon pulled over to make sure everyone was alright. It was pretty strange, but I was surprised my instinct wasn't to slam on the brakes.

Teen years (18 or 19) driving down Lookout Mountain as fast as possible. It's a mountain west of Denver with a lot of television transmitter towers and Buffalo Bill's Grave on top. The side facing the city is a long series of amusing little switchbacks. I was driving my 240Z at the edge of my skill level (beyond as it turns out) and nearly missed doing the "back" portion of one of the switchbacks.

In my 20s driving a Ferrari 328 GTS with a friend who is a very good, but insane driver. Insane or not, he is a better driver than me and seeing him drive prompted me to get bolder (stupider.) All of a sudden I realize the road I'm zooming down ends at a T junction. The braking action on that car is great, but the road was covered with gravel. I came to a stop through the intersection with the front bumper nearly at the guard rail

Um.....last year I was driving home, and I had just gone through this green light, and it speeds up from 45 to 55 right after the light, so i'm accelerating, and this old guy comes out of a side street without stopping at the sign, and i end up slamming on my breaks, laying on the horn, and spinning out into the oncoming lane. Luckily there were no cars coming, then the d*** has the nerve to flip me off like it was my fault, so i righted my car and proceeded to follow about 2 inches behind him, laying on the horn the whole way. He turned off shortly after, and that was really the only road rage i've ever had.

I must say the closest call would be as a teenager, I was driving a 1989 Tempo GL and lost control after I did some panic braking. I was driving down a two lane road with a ditch on both sides and didn't see a Plymouth Voyager waiting for traffic to clear for a left turn into a subdivision. Lucky for me, she turned before I hit her. The wheel was going back and forth as I locked the brakes. It was the most scarry thing I have ever experienced. I was also lucky that there was no incoming traffic in the opposite lane.

As that was happening, I was having flash backs of my previous accident on the same road..

In that one, someone ran a red light at top speed and hit my fender. I went sliding sideways on impact and was lucky I didn't roll. I broke my glasses, that was it.

Lets just say that every single time i drive somewhere, i come home with a story of someone almost hitting me or killing me. the hubbie and the parents all expect a story every time i come thru the door. its never my fault though. and i always pay attention to everything so when something happens i'm already ready for it. guess thats city driving at its finest. <_<
