My 02 taurus/DOHC has a light clicking sound when accel at ~40mph,especially
when up a slope. My old 93 taurus/vulcan did that too, except much louder.
Went to dealer once, but they couldn't reproduce it. it is still there.

I almost thought all taurus did that until i drove a rental. not in that rental.

Anyone has same experience? any idea what cause it? My taurus still has 50
days of warranty. Any suggestion is appreciated.

When you say clicking noise does it sound like it is coming from the engine or suspension related? If it is from engine, have you tried a different type of fuel? I would suggest driving the car and observing where you can reproduce the problem 100% of the time. If this requires more trips to the dealer, get the service manager involved. Get everything documented in writing and signed by the dealer. Incase you have a problem after warranty, then you have this as proof that you complained earlier. Make sure it isn't chicken scratch on a piece of paper, make sure they type it in the computer and hand it to you.

Thanks for help.

Frankly, I can't tell it comes from engine or suspension. But the sound comes from
the driver side. By changing the fuel type, are you suggesting a knocking problem?
The sound is like putting a nail in a metal tube and shake it. and it doesn't click
faster when speed-up and it disappears once you loose pedal.

thanks again.
