Any tips on what to use or get for cleaning an engine and everything under the hood of a car, i have a 97 GL that ugly a** engine... anyway to shine it up? I wish I could get rid of the rust on those headers also ; )

Advise my fellow friends?

yes, be careful with an open hose under the hood. I've never had any trouble with it, but others have. a good cleaner like simple green, purple power, or 409 or some other derivative should work pretty well for general cleanup.

Here's a few tips:

-Cover electronics/sensors/alternator with foil.
-Be careful with Simple Green full strength. It can stain some plastics.
-Pressure washers can cause more problems than they're worth. Never aim them directly at electronic parts.
-A degreaser on a warm engine (run for 5 min), agitate with brush, rinse with hose, (repeat if necessary) works wonders.
-Use compressed air to remove water from tight spots.
-Dress hoses, black plastics with your favorite protectant.
