What do you guys recommend for cleaning alloy wheels....

Specifically they're from my 1994 GL with whatever package it was (if i remember properly 204G, maybe??? )

i'd post a picture, but i'm too lazy

there is ALOT of brake dust and perhaps other stuff STUCK on there, i've tried wheel cleaners with a brush, and some has come off, but not all

no idea how it all got on their in the first place. Car was left at home for quite awhile while i was at school. Neglect partially on my part and my parents.

any tips would be appreciated

Mothers chrome and mag polish. Comes in a little can about the size of a Noxzema can. The stuff is awesome on any metal surface.

I found that the best way to clean my SHO's chromies is to take the wheels off the car and scrub them with a rag and some Turtle wax chrome polish. Of course I clean them with soap (Ivory dish soap) and water before I polish them. Then I wax them with any old cheap wax. I've got lots of cheap wax lying around since I only use Collinite wax on my cars now.

This isn't about wheels.
It sounds like you are a wax expert.

I am looking into bying a buffer.
What do I need as far as the machine and then what pads work best?
