I have a 97 Taurus GL and no where in this manual can I find out if this car has a Timing Chain or Belt. Anyone know?

Non-issue, unless you have 300,000 miles on the car.

Actually that was my concern , a belt wouldn't last 60,000 miles let alone 300,000. A chain should exceed 100,000 miles. Thanks for the info, where did you find this out anyway.

Ford just likes to use chains on all their cars for that reason. The only Taurus engine that has a belt is the Yamaha V6.

Now if you have a SOHC Explorer motor, you DO have to worry about the timing chains because the plastic tensioners are junk.
