I drive a 99 Taurus and my brake light with (!)(p) comes on only when i press my brakes in my car. I know i have a brake fluid leak but i need to know if it’s safe to drive to work and ect. until i can get it fixed. I have brake fluid in my car and it isn’t low, and my parking break isn’t on. Does anyone know anything about this?

There should be no such thing as "minor" concern when it comes to a brake fluid leak. Some may be more catastrophic than others but ANY brake fluid leak is a serious leak.

Curious...you don't say how you know you have a brake fluid leak. Are you just assuming because the dash lights come on? Or, are you having to top off the fluid periodically?

Agree 100%. Leak only gets bigger, and sometimes does it quickly.

Especially when the failure is under the drivers seat. Even though the brakes systems are really two independent systems when one gets a massive failure, the pedal sinks to the floor but there is just a little bit of braking left.

There are only 3 things that can turn that light on: 1) the ignition switch being in START; 2) the e-brake pedal NOT being fully-released; 3) the float magnet being too close to the fluid level switch in the master cylinder reservoir.
