I just bought my 99 Taurus from the mechanic that has done work on my previous cars and he said he just changed the solenoids on it.

He was upfront and told me that it shifts a little rough going from 2nd to 3rd. He said that the Ford dealership said this is natural when they are changed and it should take around 300 miles of driving it for them to read each other correctly.

I don't know a thing about solenoids and was wondering if this is true or was he just telling me this. I didnt pay much for the car so I bought it with it doing this. I have not put 300 miles on it yet so I dont know if it will stop on it's own or should I have him look more into the issue.

So it's like a solenoid dinner party? They have to "read" each other, then if all goes well they learn to communicate and maybe even have little solenoid babies. That's a new one on me.
