Since my '99 was in the shop today I drove my parents' 2000 Duratec to work. Well, you know how after you shut off a car it makes kind of a ticking sound for a while as it cools. I'm not sure if it's the cats or what that make the sound but all cars do it. Well this car does it a ton, way more than my '99 Duratec or any other car we've had. Could something be wrong here?

ya prettymuch all cars truck etc do it.. its amusing...

guess some this is expanding/contracting in the exhaust system...

You should hear our 03 F-150 cool down after ive done a burnout in it.

Probably the aluminum heat shields on the exhaust. If one is loose they will flex and ting even worse. My taurus has had 2 fall off now(95).

My friend's 3.3L Intrepid does it REALLY loud... However mom's Intrepid and my Bull, and ... well any other car my family has or have owned hasn't had any really loud noises coming from cooling down...
