Car Got Keyed....

Ok, so yesterday we had to take a band trip up to the University of Florida for a concert/clinic. Me, as well as about 7 other people, left our cars in the Senior parking lot at the high school. Well, I was too tired to check last night, but this morning I went out to get in my car, and noticed a long white scratch down the drivers side. I walked around to the other side and guess what, another long scratch, this one kinda wavey <_<. At first I started to get a little pissed off, but then it donned on me, in May i'm either getting a new car (most likely a Gen 4 SES if I can find one) or I'm getting my Sable repainted and having the engine/tranny rebuilt. The way I look at it, this is just one more excuse to get one or the other done.

That sucks that it happened - that kind of stuff REALLY makes me mad!
But at least it happened at a "good" time for you!

I think the Gen 4 upgrade would be more cost effective than painting your Sable and rebuilding the engine and tranny in it IMO. Either way, I hope it all works out for you!

... you can probably claim that on your insurance as vandalism if you really wanted to, not sure if it'd be worth it or not, but something to consider.

Ouch that sucks.. My friend Jessica has a 1999 Dodge Ram Sport ext Cab in Fire Engine red. Well, turns out some of the *guys* didn't like her and decided to dump Burger King as well as a ton of big hockers on her vehicle. She cleaned it off - no big deal..

The next day, her tailgate was keyed. She had it repainted - no big deal.
The next week, both sides of the truck were keyed deeply - She had it repainted by her friend who works in a shop
The next month, she was parked at work, and the same people decided to key the truck again, this time spraypainting the windows and the body of the truck. The truck was totalled by the Insurance company.

Turns out these people that had messed with her vehicle so much, were 4 guys (out of 6 guys and 2 girls) in our Construction class. They were called into the police station.. They were arrested and told to sit in a cell for destruction of property, and unlawful use of spray paint. They sat in a cell for 3 days.

When asked *why* they did this, they all said that they "were tired of her and objected to her showing off this like-new truck if she didn't pay for it herself. Just because she's rich doesn't mean she has to flaunt it.."

Well in reality - she took out a loan under her parents name because she found the first vehicle of her dreams. Her lil ram. She was paying on the loan every month (the truck was about $8K, with 11,000 miles. Pretty good deal for a '99 if you ask me.) She is not rich. She works at Old Navy and she worked VERY hard for her truck. But pompus ******** didn't want to listen or believe that.

Now she has no vehicle and is very heartbroken...

Well, my car has been egged before, but those girls no longer have a problem with me, so it wasn't them. I don't really have any enemies, so it might've just been random. I'll try to get some pics later. Today was a pretty good day, no high school and my college psych. class was cancelled, and i'll probably be getting a new car.

Earlier my dad said that he wanted to take the car to Maaco, WTF?!? I hope he was joking. When we talked about getting my car repainted, we were talking about a $2-3,000 job, which will probably still apply. I think he just want's to get it repainted cheaply so we can sell it. I dunno...

Edit: Pictures
The best thing to do is to go buy some high quality auto paint, then take it to Maaco--those guys spray paint all day, so they're pretty good, and then they'll paint your car with some good paint pretty cheap.

Dunno about you, but sounds good to me.

Or some touch up paint at AutoZone

Was thinking the same.....

I've got chips all over the front of mine and was going to do this....just gotta find that right color blue.....
Hey BlueVulcan, I think we've got the exact same taurus--do you have the dark blue, or the light powder blue?. I've got the dark. If you do too, let me know if you find a good touch up paint, Ive got a few scratches on the rear bumper (bought it like that--lowered the pricetag
)

Thanks
BLUE TAURI UNITE!

Well, I took some of this Red colored turtle wax I had and went over the scratches, it actually worked pretty well, for now. I'm liking the idea of buying paint and taking it to Maaco, but I hear their prep work sucks.

Edit: My dad just reminded me....my brother up in Ohio is really good at painting cars (he paints ambulances and city vehicles), and If I buy the paint, the labor would most likely be free. Sounds great to me.

Yeah, well my car is red, unfortunatly. <_< It shows up fairly well. At least it's not as noticeable as my friends front left fender....how in the hell can you hit a dead end sign?
