This may sound crazy, but I have been trying to remove the 40amp fuse from the fuse box under the dash of my 2002 Taurus. I try pulling out on it and it won't come. Is there some special locking mechanism I need to remove? I am afraid to pull as hard as I can since I don't want the whole fuse box coming out! It's square with a see thru window on the top of it. It's for the blower motor.
thanks

I would also not use any penetrating oil (read PB Blaster) either. That can act as a (poor) conductor.
Just remember to keep your head away. You may be more comfortable hanging you head over the fuse panel. DON'T! When it frees up there will be a recoil, the pliers can hit you in the face. :(

I personally, and i know others hate this, but I pull and reinsert each fuse when I get a used car. It helps a few years later.
