Hi,

Great to find you all here. Transmission down @125K, pump noise, slippage, fluid dark,etc.

Found a used (109K) replacement and a trusted installer, but the "new" one is from a floor shifter, and I have a column shift.

What will the installer need, or is this not even possible?
Also, I'm really new at this--how do I know for sure--I think it's a AX4N.
I have a 98 SE Comfort Sport with a 3.0 24v dohc.

If you have a 98 tec, you have an ax4n. Use the search feature at the top of this page. Iirc, there have been threads addressing this topic in the past.

Definite on AX4N, Now floor to column? Re:1998 model

I did find threads about column to floor interchanges and switching the bracket.
Just needed some confirmation for the 98 model specifically--most threads I find were for other years, and went more into the OD switches, which mine does have, and would need to be hooked up.
Again, seeking confirmation before I purchase the used one, and any pointers (other than the OD switch) anyone thinks are important to a newbie.

I'm pretty sure the only difference is in the linkage going from the trans to the shifter. The current linkage in your car should attach to the new tgrans just fine.

The OD button is on the end of the column shifter, the side of the floor shifter. Same trans should have been used with either option.

Cable mounting bracket is different, as stated.
