It seems like im going to be losing my taurus on monday or tuesday. I found a really good deal on a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R. The car has 9900 miles on it and comes with a 100,000 mile warranty so Im Going back monday to hopefully finalize things. I know i will miss my car with all i have done but my mileage is at almost 100k

Oh no, another "holy crap my car has 100k I better get rid of it before it dies!" cars aren't like that anymore, my car is showing no signs of death at almost 115,000 and it still comes back kicking with everything I throw at it. Not like your grandpa's Chevy that rusted to bad by the time it had 100k it was just a big pile of brown.

Have fun with the SE-R though. It is a much better car to soup up. Any plans to sell the Taurus parts?

Lose as in ditching it. So like, if you say "Man, you gotta lose that silly a** hat" that means in the opinion of the speaker it would be in your best interest to misplace said hat, or in other words, get rid of it.

It's the urbanspeak.

Dont really want to buy another domestic i been lookin around and there is alot of performance out for the SE-R and it seems pretty reliable.
I have heard of a lot of engine failures on them. Also heard a lot of problems with the engine eating oil like no tomorrow. Check it out well.

How are you losing the Taurus?

Jeremy.. losing as in "trading".

I dont understand..... The Taurus didn't treat you good?! Why go with a Nissan??? Just because of a good deal? Go with a g4 bull! Deep inside, you dont really want that Nissan. You really want a g4 bull!!!

But if this hasn't convinced you enough, then good luck with the Nissan, and do you still plan on frequenting the boards? If so, YAY! If not, PLEASE?!?

130k on my '96 LX...The Sentra's are a cute car indeed....hope your in a place were stuff doesnt rust...Altima's run free with rusted fenders '96-'98 here. I wouldnt buy anything just yet, Ford has the Futura coming in 2 years, and the Canadian Ford Focus is looking reeaally nice. Keep in mind that 2.3L 4 cylinder Duratec coming out....imagine the possibilities....or get a used SVT countour, that beats an SE-R any day.....or hell Mazdaspeed Protege, $20k (hey, at least its still a ford division). If it was me, Gen 4 SEL or Mazda6 Duratec with 5-speed, that looks fun.

I'd do more research, even if its just a few hours on Edmunds.com, just dont listen to the editors, there jackasses half the time. "the camry has earned great respect for its 240hp" ....yeah to bad u gotta wait till redline to get that power. And I find it funny my 200hp Duratec still takes them on even @ 130k....... editors....

WTF are you talking about?!?!?
The camry v6 hits PEAK torque: 240 ft-lbs. @ 3600 rpm. Nissan's all mighty altima 3.5l v6 hits 246 ft-lbs. @ 4400 rpm. click here for the comparison Go research something before talking just because you hate imports.

Other than the engine oil problem I have heard nothing bad about the se-r's. From edmunds.com JD Power prefered the initial quality of a 2000 contour over a 2001/02 se-r. But the consumer ratings are more solid for the se-r. Go with what you want. I would take an se-r over a suggested svt contour, but the se-r did horrible in crash tests- something which I dont like, so I wouldn't buy either.

1) I said horsepower, not torque. So dont freak out.

2) I do, do my research

3) I never put down an import
(Hell I own a Mazda RX-7)

4) Here are the specs on the Camry...

Base Number of Cylinders: 6 Base Engine Size: 3 liters
Base Engine Type: V6 Horsepower: 210 hp
Max Horsepower: 5800 rpm Torque: 220 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 4400 rpm Drive Type: FWD
Turning Circle: 36.7 ft.

5) I was thinking of the accord, and my same comment shows it here:
Base Number of Cylinders: 6 Base Engine Size: 3 liters
Base Engine Type: V6 Horsepower: 240 hp
Max Horsepower: 6250 rpm Torque: 212 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 5000 rpm Drive Type: FWD
Turning Circle: 36.1 ft.

6) I was looking at the Camry 3.0

7) My qoute saying HP at/near redline is true on the camry 3.3 as shows here
225 hp @ 5600 rpm

8) you no most editors love to talk horses

9) I apollogize for upsetting you, as it was not intended

10) "Ford builds absolute pieces of crap. Sell the vehicle before it comes around and bites you in the @** Non-mechanical parts fail regardless of tlc given. Uck Ord." Then why are you here, or did you not do YOUR research when purchasing your vehical?

I will still be on the board if I get the sentra no way around that. I am going to be selling my 18's because they wont fit the se-r. possibly selling the sho bumper and center taillights to. The taurus has been good to me and i dont want to get rid of it but want to start from scratch again. The car made me proud last night when it beat a 4cyl probe in philly.

No.... Don't get rid of your taurus. Its everything you ever wanted, except for the performance part, but hey you spanked that probe last night and this time they knew you were racing
And hey, at least theres a aftermarket for the sentra.

The duratec makes 201hp @ 5500 rpm...And the redline for the duratec is 6500 rpm. I doubt toyota's is at 5600 especially being a dohc motor.

Its obvious there is a misunderstanding between you and me, so I'm leaving it at that.
