I was checking my mail at the post office one day. Got in my car, went to back out. Saw this POS 92 Brit Ford Escort coming, and WHACK!!

Crushed the rear bumper on the driver's side.

I got out of car, ready to kill whoever just hit my 1 month old car.

Then, I noticed it was one of the guys I worked with. Actually is was one the guys I supervised! Didn't help my blind rage very much.

After collecting myself, and collecting my keys from the bushes after I flung them in disgust. I called the local Air Force Cops, and my boss being that I didn't want to do something I regret.

The cops issued the other guy a ticket, and about 2 weeks later the insurance company ruled in my favor. Being that the damages are over $1300, I was thinking about just using that as an excuse to order the body kit from Andy's Autosports Gen 4 Bodykit

My question is though, if the kit is a replacement for the bumper cover or do you need to have the stock cover as well.

that sucks man... i hate to hear that. i too would probably have to restrain myself from doing something i would regret.

i wouldnt see any reason why you would need the stock bumper cover to fit the aftermarket kit. it doesent serve any purpose structurally or aethetically. im sure andys auto could give you a more definitive answer though. however, you would need to buy a factory replacement front grill from an 00-03 for the front bumper cover to fit.

The body kit is a replacement for the bumper cover. However, with the impact your car suffered, you will probably need to replace the styrofoam bumper and possibly the steel bumper as well. You need to remove the entire bumper assemble and check for any unseen damage, if you have not already.

Your Taurus would really stand out as a one of a kind with that body kit in England

I don't think it would need it as the car in the photos for the test fit of the kit was an 04

:withstupid:

I don't think you need to worry about the grill either. I remember we had that dispute as to whether the car pictured was an 04 or not, it most definitely is.

Sorry to hear that happened, but at least you see the bright side and are making the best of the situation! B) Definitely get us some pics if you get the body kit. :)

I didn't even look at the pic that close.

Yup, it's an 04!! I recognize the tail lamps

Anyhow, looks like the whole deal with the bodykit isn't going to fly.

insurance company will only deal with the bodyshop, due to cost cuts. Other then that, it would cost me a couple of hundies just to ship the thing.

Gotta love living overseas

Oh well, nice idea though

Man, I hate to hear that happened. How come the bodyshop can't order the kit as a replacement and put it under THEIR costs? Hope you get to come home soon so you can get it outright if things don't swing your way in the end.
