Ok, my car has been functioning normally up until two days ago. I went out in the deep freeze weather and started it and was in a hurry so I took off immediately. Anyway the speedometer went nuts on me. I had it wound all the way around to 85 and people were passing me like I was standing still plus the speedometer was bouncing between 80 and 85. I got to my desintation, was there for an hour and it was fine after that. Is it anything I should be worried about?

I think it's probably just the cold. One time, I was riding in my friend's Escort and we were going down this road at 25 MPH (the limit) and the speedo had bounced to 85 and then dropped back to normal. If you're really worried, maybe try lubing the speedo cable?

I have the same problem with mine. It's the speedometer cable. It seems to only happen when the car's cold. After it warms up, everything's fine. I think lubing would help, but I can guage my speed well enough w/o that.
