Blinking Air Bag Light

my 1994 has a blinking airbag light. Does this mean it could deploy without warning or not deploy in an accident?

Also, anyone know the cause and how to fix?

I had a friend who had the SRS light flast in his 99 Honda accorod coupe. A few weeks later.. his alternator died.
