I just flushed transmission per the sticky. I found black plastic pieces (about 1/8" dia) in the drain bucket, about a dozen. But I found none in the oil pan. Can something like them come out of trans? I am not 100% sure if they really came out of trans or fell off from the car.

The filter was undamaged. As I said, the trans oil pan had no such debris. Yes, I replaced the filter, too.

I googled for "plastic piece transmission oil" and found plastic thrust washers can break up. What do those do?

Are you sure those are not round metal pices - used sometimes as spacers from the old rubber gasket?

No they are not metal. I know no black metal. They are hard but not metal hard.
