Hey, I’m Brennan. (B10hale). New to this forum. Recently bought a White 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0 OHV “Big Pimpin’” as a spare to save miles on my 1999 ranger, cause the ranger is getting a 302 swap. I’m a Ford tech at Paul Miller Ford. Hopefully I can help some people here and some can help me. Glad to be here!

Yes that’s the one
I lived in Lex '58-'59, and again '63-'64. Taught school at Tates Creek Jr.
I bought new Fairlane 500, HT, 260 V-8. PM did not have what I wanted on the lot so I found one in Covington, KY.
PM fixed a serious oil leak early on. Gasket between intake and block in the back, gasket came out.
Pic of my short story of Ford-Lincoln shops and my '02 Lin Cont bought new. All that warranty.
I have had minimum contact with dealer shops since.
I have now, '03 Taurus 150K, '04 Sable wagon 161K, and '05 Tautus 141K. Family car '11 Buick Lucerne 87K.
I rented a Malibu at Lex in July. 270 miles in 4 days. I have no use for all that hard to use buttons and menu. The CV tran sucks. Has the :"herky-jerky" in traffic. The fob is heaver than my phone.
PIc my herd of Bulls. The wagon on the right, sold to a friend, and bought a nicer one, same color.
Best of luck.

That’s really cool! I haven’t seen many fairlanes. But I think classic cars Like that are awesome. Glad you had some good experiences at PM. I’ve loved my time there and we try our best to do right by people. And that’s really cool that you have those older bulls in good shape and lower miles, don’t see that often. And they look great to be that old, And I agree, any CV trans I’ve had to deal with have all been junk. I wouldn’t ever buy one. Thankfully I work in the heavy truck department and we don’t have to deal with the CVs. I personally like having older vehicles cause it’s not as much electronic stuff to go bad.

Pic of one I bought 3 months ago. North VA so no rust. This has 160K on it, and has had 3 owners. The DOHC label is missing on this fender.
I like my Sable wagons.This is #4.

Wow, that’s real nice looking wagon there, thanks for sharing. I luckily got mine with one tiny spot of rust in the seam of the trunk lid where the hinges are. Besides that it’s clean and straight.

I live in the rust belt but not the worst part. Pic of my last wagon, daughter and friend kept borrowing it and driving it along the NY Throughway where lake effect snow/salt is rally bad. This is what it looks like after it gets returned. Under these conditions rotors last one winter. So I sold this car to my daughter's friend. They no longer drive up in the bad snow as he sold his house up there.

Might note the front is high. Couple years ago had a broken spring and I limped it to local shop and they put Monroe struts on it. Ride height 1"+ high. Not my problem now. I got that wagon 8 years ago for $4K so it has paid it's way nicely. It was a "rescue" car when I got it. About $40 at the local Pick a Part and it was OK.

For my local driving, I get 2 winters on rotors before rust fail.

Still didn’t look too bad, but I hate rust. It’s hard to do anything with and can get expensive to fix

Hello Brennan. Welcome to the group. Hopefully, we will be able to learn from each other. My Taurus was built in 2000.
