I found this on Wikipedia after searching for AXOD. I wanted to know if you guys think this holds water or if it's just baloney.
"Intermediate clutch failures resulting in poor 1-2 shifts or slipping are common on all AX family members.
Failure of the "Neutral to Drive Accumulator" causes hard shifts into a drive gear (R, OD, D, 1) from "N" or "P". This can become quite violent. Reason for this part's failure: Piston stuck, or seals or springs damaged or missing. Correction for this problem: Check these parts for damage. Replace as required (located inside the transmission, recommended that a transmission shop do the repair, but a full rebuild of the transmission is NOT required)."
I started having problems with my transmission after a PowerFlush. It won't stay in 4th for long runs, but it is drivable. I was wondering if it would be worth to repair this if it turns out that the shop doesn't have to rip out the whole transmission. I imagine the cost would be less since they don't have to take the tranny out. Any thoughts on truth?
I have a 1989 LX with the 3.8 and AXOD.
