Any "switched" Wires In The Trunk?

2309 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Twilight
I have almost completed my CD installation. It would be a great help if anyone knows if there is a "switched" wire I could tap in the trunk of my '03 SE.
Ground was no problem of course, and I grabbed 12v constant from a yellow and red wire coming off of what probably should be for a factory CD changer. But, I was hopping I would not have to run a wire from the front when all my other wiring originates from the trunk.

I "merged" my speaker wires so that I will have a cassette and CD available.
Thanks

there is a "remote power" or "switch" wire for the stock CD player.... not sure what the colors would be for a gen4 though. grab a multimeter and have at it
There is a switched/radio-on line back there in my gen4. It's in the wiring for the "never used in a gen4 taurus sedan" electric antenna. I used it as an amp turn on.
As far as I know the power antenna wires were deleted on the 03', at least mine was.

On my car I ended up running a wire to the front(I couldn't find the right wire, but now I have the wiring diagrams, so I can help you. I think there are a few wires you can use off of the RCU. On one of the connectors there is a LG/BK wire that is "Audio System ON(ASYSON)". There is another connector that looks just like that one that has the same "Audio System ON(ASYSON)" funtion but is for the CD player. This wire is BN/OG.
Please let me know which one works so I know for sure. If u run into any trouble just message me and I can try and help.

Ok I have an 03 and i took my multi meter and touched every wire in the trunk and ended up fukin up the remote trunk release.. so i had to unplug the battery for it to start working again haha..

I couldn't find a wire int he trunk of my car for the life of me..and the only way to do it as far as i know is to run a wire up to the front of the car... maybe youll have better luck there..

Jason, read more carefully. There is NO power antenna wire in an 03'

I am just hoping someone with an 03' can figure it out so we don't all have to run wires to the front. I have the wiring diagrams, I am just to lazy to go rippin all that apart and start testing wires, since it is working fine from the wire from the front. Anyways, good luck.......

ASYSON is the wire you want to jack. I tried the power antenna wire and it didn't work for me. It did work for my cd changer though.
