that is the maximum output of the alternator. The test data in the Haynes manual showed the output at 2k RPM's to be 87 for a 96-99. Does your battery keep dying? once the car is jumped, does the engine stay running?

You'd be hard pressed to ever see any alternator deliver it's full rated output. If the batteries are dieing then more than likely there is an excessive load when the car is off. Use an amp meter, when the engine is off with the key removed there should be around a 50 milliamp current draw.
