I have a 1990 Taurus that's come down with a new little headache in the past few days. The air bag warning light (the one that normally comes on for 5 seconds or so while the system is charging) has started flashing intermittently. It flashes 5 times every 30 - 60 seconds or so, and has been doing so for the past 2 days.
The manual says that this indicates a fault in the system somewhere, with no more specifics. Pulling the airbag module fuse doesn't help - the light just flashes 3 times every few seconds instead.
Any experience with this type of issue? I can't get the car to a garage til after Christmas now.. and unfortunately, the dealer can't say whether this means the airbag WON'T deploy at all, or might just go off for no reason at all (which I definitely don't need!!). If there's an easy way to disable the system so I can drive for the next few days, that'd be helpful knowledge as well. For the time being, I'm over my head and just as inclined not to touch anything.
Thanx all, and Merry Christmas!
