I'm new to the TCCA, but have had my Taurus for over 2 years. I want to install an aftermarket stereo, and I have both the Stereo and Adapter kit (from Metra). However, the instructions tell me I need to run wires all the way to the trunk, without even suggesting how I go about doing that. Customer Service has been useless to me.

Is there an easier way to install my new CD player without tearing up the interior and running cables to the trunk? If so, how? If not, what part of the car should I start destroying first?

Thanks for any help.

Since I'm a car audio newbie, I went to BestBuy (Yes, I know I know...). They actually did a pretty good job, the manager of the car audio installation department did my installation. I think the labor came out to $60 or $70, and I have the satisfaction that the installation was done right

If you want to use the factory speakers, you have to run the cables to the trunk.

In my gen4, I ran the cables down the driver's side under the plastic trim (just pry it up with a flathead screwdriver). I then went from the trim under the back seat and then under the liner in the trunk to the factory tuner/amp. The factory tuner/amp is on the driver's side behind the wheel well under the trunk liner.

I don't quite remember how long the installation took me, but I'm going to guess somewhere in the 4 hour range (I did it at night so that didn't help matters, couldnt see s***).

Old thread, new question....

I am trading my F150 in for a 2000 Taurus. The car has an am/fm/cassette (why do they still sell these?) radio and I want to keep the Pioneer DIN size cd player I put in my F150. Are they're any potential issues I should know about? Car does not have digital climate control.

I've heard there is not enough room in some Taurus's for aftermarket stereo's. Does that include my soon to be car?

I know I need one of these.

Another new question: What if you plan on replacing the speakers too? Does that affect how you would go about the installation?
