After searching this topic, I've discovered one thing.

That being, what I've always called "keyless entry" in my other autos, is evidently called "remote locks" here in the world of Ford.
I guess this is because the keypad on the doors of some Ford's is called "keyless entrly". This is a wonderful revelation however it's not the info I so desperately desired when I started this quest.

I want to know if it's possible to add factory "remote locks" to my '96 LX. I want to use a factory Ford key fob (purchased on ebay) to unlock the doors and/or trunk. Am I SOL if my car didn't originally come with it???? I was hoping that Ford installed the "technology" to make "remote locks" possible in all of it's cars and all you really needed to do was to add the fobs and some programming.

Thanks for any and all insight...

PS Forgive me if I overlooked something obvious in the archives

sol...it will be much easier and cheaper to add aftermarket units....plus the range is about 10x better (30ft max vs 300-1000ft)
