All,

My A/C blows but isn't cold and i'm thinking I just want to remove the whole system. Has anyone done this, and if so, how was it? I'm thinking I could save some weight and free up some space in the engine bay.

Pros -
Lose weight
Free engine space

Cons -
Lower resale value
No A/C if we ever decided we REALLY wanted it

This is JMHO but it my not be worth the trouble. If I did anything it would be to remove the compressor, which would mean a smaller size belt.

On a Duratec even removing the compressor is a pain in the butt. Just leave the system intact. I would spend the money to have it checked out because some faults are not that expensive to fix.

Good luck, Popeye

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I should probably try to see if the car just needs refrigerant added before I decide to totally give up on the A/C.
