I was working with my mechanic last night, and when doing a diagonistic check, we noticed that the A/C compressor switches on when the heater switch is turned on, I thought that the compressor only switched on with the defrost. any one have any Idea why it is doing this,or any way to eliminate the compressor from doing this with the heater.

It's normal. There's been many topics on this. The A/C runs in all positions except for "Vents", "Floor", and "Off". In defrost, floor/defrost, dash vents/floor, a/c and max a/c the compressor will cycle.
