My girlfriends 98 taurus is in bad shape. It has no power coming off the light and four check engine codes relating to the EGR Valve. I am thinking more and more it could be a clogged cat! My question is how many cats are typically on a 98 taurus (not sure what v6 is in it)? I know a shop that will replace the cats with straight pipes if it nets no CEL lights. Thanks!

Straight pipes will then cause CEL codes for the cats to be thrown.

What are the code the car is throwing?
