We are replacing the Passenger side axle shaft due to a loose inner joint causing a bad vibration at highway speeds.
While checking the front end componants we shook each axle to check for play. The passenger inner joint has what seemed to be a lot play- up, down, etc. This led us to believe that at highways speeds and hi revolututions this joint would become unbalanced.
Replaced the Axle and the new one has the same amount of play just about.
The question I have is:
Has anyone seen this amount of play in the inner joints of the front axles?
Drivers side is nice and tight.

I replaced my axles and I had the same problem - the new ps axle had almost as much play in the inner joint as the old one.

But I also noticed play where the axleshaft goes into the differential. I'd like to know how to replace the axle bearing/bushing where it inserts into the transmission.

On my 2000...I think my R/F axle has the same issue (pass side). Also have vibrations at a number of speed increments: 25, 45, 55, 65-low 70s
