I don't think this is a re-post, and I'm sorry if nobody cares, but I found it interesting. I didn't realize the '94-'97 Mustang GT only had 215 hp. The '98 only has 225, going up to 260 in '99. The '94-'95 Cobra pushes 240hp. Now, with 285 ft-lbf, I think it's better out of the hole than an SHO, but the '96 SHO has 20 hp on the GT. IIRC, the Mustang only weighs ~75 lbs less than than the SHO. Fair fight? After everyone's talk about how "if you want performance, buy a Mustang!" ...you might just find yourself in the same boat... (unmodified vs. unmodified)

Stock 95' 5.0 weights only 3200 pounds and does 1/4 mile in around 15.3 sec. Either from a roll or from a dig, its little too much for a V8 SHO to handle. Now, put a 5 speed First Gen vs 5.0 and I'm pretty sure, SHO will be the winner.

The 94-95 Mustang has a 5.0 with a ton more bottom end than the SHO... stock vs stock, 5.0 Wins. 1996-98 Mustangs had a 4.6 with a lot less bottom end, and I'd be willing to bet that the SHO wins, even with the crappy FWD layout.

Now modded vs modded, the Mustang wins unless its Carter's car or SHORTS. Those two SHOs are scary.
