Improvement in shifts and the like? Would it be "upgraded software" like the D4U1 computer swaps? Has anyone tried this yet?

My friend put a '95 taurus 3.8L computer in his girlfriend's '93 3.8L sable. There is a bit of difference, not much though..

The tq converter lock and unlock seems more responsive, but very minimal difference in shift firmness.

Not worth the time IMO.. I'd get a chip before I did that, unless the '95 computer was free :)

Huh. It was worth a shot, I guess. Thanks Jeramie. :) *ponders other cheap mods*

Another thing he noticed was that the car seems to not squeal the tires as easily. But overall the car feels a bit more responsive. Maybe ford "toned down" the timing advance on the 3.8's in '95 to make it more drivable.

I know my '95 doesn't seem to rip them loose like my old '93 did.. But I guess that all depends on tires.

For the little I have done to my car, it runs healthy.
