When you start the engine, place your foot on the brake, then TRY to move the gear selector to "D" it wont move. If you put the key in between off and run positions it can then be placed in "N" started, then placed in gear. Is there an adjustment, does the ignition switch need to be replaced? HELP!

See if the brake lights work. SIL operates off brake light circuit. If brake lights dont work, you can get it out of park. Could be fuse, but more likely a bad brake light switch or the wires going to the switch are broken internally from flexing every time brake is pressed. Personally, I have found more broken wires to switch more often than a bad switch. Since the wires often break internally, the break isnt always totally obvious.
