I have a coolant leak in my '93 Sable with a 3.0L V6. The thermostat was just replaced, a bolt was broken, and helicoiled. But I think this leak may be in a rubber & rigid pipe assembly that runs from the engine to firewall, which I presume is the heater line. Otherwise it may be in the temp sender. I think they blew a leak open during pressure testing.
It's leaking about 1/2 gallon on a 50 mile roundtrip commute. I cannot see spray or active dripping, just puddling down below and steam in the air. The highest puddling I see is near a crimped joint on this pipe assembly, going from rubber to metal.
I'm looking for diagnostic tips for finding this leak for sure, part numbers for the lines that run from engine to firewall (out & return), etc. I thought of wrapping the suspected joint with plastic to see if it pools coolant, and may try that (wary of hot spots).
