I have a friend with a 92 SHO and he has a problem. He was going down the freeway on his way to work. He gets off the freeway and comes to a stop on the offramp and the engine just turns off. He puts the car in park and restarts the engine it starts up just fine. He puts the car into drive and the engine died and all the warning lights came on just as if you weere starting the engine. His mechanic is stumped any ideas?

Sure it's a SHO or the right year? '92 SHOs only came with a stick-shift.

I would say maybe the torque converter is not unlocking if it is an automatic.

Issues with the ignition switch on the steering column, maybe? Beyond that, pull the codes - see the Pinned thread at the top of this Forum. Let us know what you find.

If it restarts with no problems, it's most likely the crank sensor, ignition module, or a bad connection on the negative cable of the battery.

The crank sensor/ignition module will not always throw a code, but check them anyway. My 91 did, and it made things a lot easier.
